Why You Shouldn't Ban Books

Imagine being engrossed in your favorite book. You feel like you're a part of the book, and then you go to the library to re-read that series, and it's gone. You ask yourself, why is it gone? You have heard of the answer but have yet to realize its effect on you: censorship.  According to aclu.org, "censorship is the suppression of words, images, or ideas that are "offensive". In other words, censorship is eliminating content that people consider rude. For example, something that is censored that you see every day is TV shows. Most TV shows are censored due to ratings that censor the movie for kids because of inappropriate content. Even though protecting people is important, books should not be censored because they offer numerous opportunities to learn and expand knowledge. Book Review: The Hate U Give displays powerful messages through injustice and racism By: Fredua Agyeman  Angie Thomas is an American Writer and is known for writing many books but she is mostly known for her bestselling book The Hate U Give. This book has won many awards like the Coretta Scott King Award, New York Times #1 BestSeller, and the William C. Morris Award. This book is about a young girl named Starr who was at a party with her friend Khalil. A fight broke out at the party and the two of them ran to Khalil's car.
