Book review: Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone

"Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone" teaches kids that nothing can limit your imagination.

                                                            

The book series Harry Potter is very influential to readers of all ages who decided to read the books. It introduces readers a whole new world of imagination when they read Harry Potter, not because of its humor or its interesting story, but its impactful narratives that keep the reader wanting more, but also teaching readers valuable life lessons such as companionship, friendship, and not to hate each other based on their background. 

In the story "Harry Potter the Sorcerers Stone" it introduces kids at the ages 11- 16 about a whole new story of a kid named Harry Potter, who suddenly got an invitation to a special school named Hogwarts, something that was very special to him and not to his family who hate him. So it talks about Harry getting used to Hogwarts and learning all sorts of wizardry and magic. While meeting new friends and encounters.                                                                                                                                                            

The story is targeted towards kids and teens because of how it is able to hook the reader with the interesting important events that happen in Hogwarts, such as a mysterious battle between wizards, duels of the century,  characters that build relationships with each other and help each other, and more. And not to mention how it tells readers that anybody could be a wizard, no matter where you came from, such as Harry potter who was in an abusive household who didn't want anything from him. Or other characters who came to Hogwarts for both good and bad reasons in their life.

There is also the fact that after an inexplicable encounter from a wizard, the family suddenly decided they wanted to keep Harry, which causes the family to be attacked by the wizard to protect Harry, because that wizard knew that Harry Potter was an ideal candidate to be great at Hogwarts.  

However there is something that we don't find out about, if family are impacted by the wizards attack and changed their ways, or grateful that Harry Potter left once and for all.

The book I mention was also banned, why is that?

Some critics and reviews believe the Harry potter books to not be targeted towards kids or teens but should be censored around the world. Many christians believe that the Harry Potter book series are confusing children with dark magic, spells and curses, and is the reason why the book series is banned in many Christian and even Catholic schools. According to thelist.com, "more and more people were becoming incensed about the content of the books, with complaints stating that they were anti-family and violent. Some even went as far as to say the books promoted Satanism and the occult." Which greatly harmed the reputation of Harry potter books in these religious schools, however these overall complaints haven't greatly harmed the sales of the books as they are still popular today even after a long time, however because of the complains of anti-family, evil spells and curses, and the books "promoting satanism" did stop the books from those religious libraries.

The books still are getting sold every day in a good amount, which goes to show as for how great the books story telling, wizardry, and die-hard fans are committed to reading the books, and the lesson that Harry potter wants to explain to people is that many people could metaphorically go to Hogwarts and be a wizard, or people could go be successful or pursue their dreams without anybody telling them they couldn't do it.

The Harry Potter book series has over 7 books, however all of the books are very influential to readers who decide to read all of the books because they enjoy the books magic themes and wizardry and even times where it addresses overcoming obstacles. In one part of Harry potter, a bully challenges to flying brooms, everybody sees this and Harry gets in trouble because he wasn't supposed to do so. However, while everybody sees this, they also recognize the skill of Harry due to his flying skills. 

Which would also further add on to the claim that people could be what they want to be and chase their dreams without anybody telling them what they can and can't do. Such as this powerful quote 

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
